THANK YOU

Thanks to those who were able to help at the Multi-cultural mass and snack time! It was a great celebration of the diversity of St. Jerome and enjoyed by all us Faith Filled Individuals!

Thank you also to everyone who attended Mass this past Sunday. It was a beautiful celebration and the students did a fantastic job.

INTO THE DEEP

We have begun our very exciting MARE unit on the Rocky Seashore! The Lawrence Hall of Science provides many activities for our educational experience, but we welcome any and all outside resources as well! If you have any connection to the ocean and would like to be a guest speaker, please contact me. Maybe you’re a fisher-person, diver, or you are knowledgeable about sea life or used to work on a boat, etc. The kindergarteners (as well as other classes) would love to hear about your experiences!

MASS

On Sunday, April 14th is our class mass! If you are able to attend, please arrive at St. Jerome Church no later than 8:45 AM. Please remember students should come in a clean and neat uniform (no tennis shoes). Students who attend Mass on Sunday will have free dress on Monday. It should be a beautiful celebration. I hope to see you there.

CHANGING AND GROWING

In Religion, the kindergarteners have been actively learning about how we change and grow closer to Jesus during the Lenten Season. We also explored this concept of changing and growing as we studied the life cycle of butterflies in Science. We have just released our butterflies and reflected on the transformation that a caterpillar makes into a butterfly. This also help to explain resurrection of Jesus as we celebrate the Easter season.

For Sharing next week, I would like the kindergarteners to focus on how they have changed and grown throughout their lives. Please help your child choose a way of explaining how s/he has changed and grown since s/he was a baby. Your child may bring in a baby picture, old baby clothes, a security blanket, a growth chart, etc. On his/her Sharing day, your child should be effectively communicate and complete the sentence “I used to _________, but now I ________.” (For example, “I used to crawl, but now I walk.”) This is one of my favorite Sharing assignments, and I encourage you to please be creative!

UPCOMING EVENTS

On Friday, April 19: at 8:45am, the whole school will participate as Faith Filled Individuals in a multicultural mass led by 4th grade and a multi-cultural snack time. All are welcome to attend.

HOMEWORK HIGHLIGHTS

Spelling words for next week are: have, and, in, on. As always, please practice the words with your child throughout the week so he/she is prepared for the test on Friday.

Please remember that the Spelling Menu is due Friday, April 26th.
