About Dr. Kaumbulu

Although I grew up in the Bay Area, I began my teaching career in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. I lived and worked in Kenya from 1971 to 1991. Upon returning to the United States, I began working at St. Jerome Catholic School and joined the St. Jerome parish community. I have also taught Education and Culture as an adjunct professor in the Department of Education at Dominican University. As a teacher consultant for KQED Channel 9TV I participated in the Emmy award winning public service announcement, Be A Teacher.  I conducted workshops in technology integration at various university sites for KQED San Francisco and WGBH Boston through the National Teachers Training Institute.  I have served as a member of the Diocese of Oakland  technology committee.  I  received my B.A. in Sociology.  I have a MEd in Integrated Studies, and a Ph.D in Education specializing in Educational Technology. I have a California CLAD teaching credential. I enjoy the study of technology and cognitive development, as well as teacher beliefs and their participatory practices when using digital tools in the classroom. In my spare time, I ride my bicycle and play tennis.
