About Dr. Kaumbulu
I have had the wonderful experience of teaching children at St. Jerome Catholic School since 1992. I began my teaching career in a small school in Karen-Langata, just outside Nairobi in Kenya, East Africa. I lived and worked in Kenya from 1971 to 1991. Upon returning to the United States I came to St. Jerome Catholic School and joined the faculty in the fall of 1992. I have participated in several diocesan projects that have included the Writers' Faire, the Lillian Black Art's Festival and currently, the diocesan technology committee. I have been an adjunct professor in the Department of Education at Dominican University. Other educational activities have included being a teacher consultant for KQED Channel 9 TV.
I have a California professional teaching credential. I am Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development(CLAD) certified. I have a Masters degree in education and a PhD in education both with a focus on digital literacy and cognitive development and tool use. I love teaching at all levels, especially digital learning. I enjoy riding my bicycle, and I play a little tennis when I can!
